I have been a freelance copy editor for about four years. I have worked with a variety of clients, from students to businesses. I have edited essays, dissertations, theses, blog posts, web copy, and more. I am often asked how long it takes me to copy edit a certain number of words. The answer, of course, depends on the quality of the writing, the level of editing required, the subject matter, the writer's style, etc. However, I thought it would be helpful to give a general idea of how long it takes me to copy edit 1000 words. On average, it takes me about 30-60 minutes to copy edit 1000 words. Of course, this varies depending on the factors mentioned above. If the writing is of poor quality or requires a lot of corrections, it will take me longer. If the writing is of good quality and requires only minor corrections, it will take me less time.
