Do Amazon Gift Cards have a Whereabouts?

I've seen a lot of posts lately about people receiving Amazon Gift Cards. I'm just curious as to where they are coming from? I've never received one. Are they a new thing?

I did a little research and it looks like they are part of a new Amazon program called "Amazon Prime." Apparently, if you are a member of Amazon Prime, you receive a free Amazon Gift Card every month.
