There are a few different ways to place electrodes for an ECG, depending on the specific situation. Generally, though, electrodes are placed on the chest in the following order:
The right arm electrode is placed on the right arm, just above the elbow.
The left arm electrode is placed on the left arm, just above the elbow.
The left leg electrode is placed on the left leg, just above the knee.
The right leg electrode is placed on the right leg, just above the knee.
After the electrodes are placed, the ECG machine will be able to read the electrical activity of the heart and produce a tracing.
