The first step is to open a new Microsoft Word document. Then, click on the "Insert" tab at the top of the screen. In the "Insert" menu, click on the "Header" option. This will open a menu of pre-formatted header options. Select the "APA" option from this menu. This will insert a header into your document with the words "Running head: YOUR TITLE" at the left margin and your page number at the right margin.
Next, you will need to enter your paper's title in the space after the "Running head" text. Be sure to capitalize the first letter of all major words in your title. After you have entered your paper's title, hit the Enter key twice to create a new line.
On this new line, you will need to enter your name, your university's name, and the date. Be sure to double-space between each piece of information. After you have entered this information, hit the Enter key four times to create a new paragraph.
Your paper's title should now be centered on the first line of this new paragraph, and you are ready to begin writing your paper!
