Where should I put my mirror?

I have seen people place their mirrors in different directions. Some face the door while others face the window. Which do you think is better? And why?I have always placed my mirror facing the door because I feel like it gives me a better view of who is coming in and out. Plus, I can see their reflection in the mirror and it just feels more natural to me. But I'm curious to know what others think and why they choose the direction they do.
