At the end of The Witcher 1, the main character, Geralt of Rivia, is confronted by an old man. This man is none other than Geralt’s former mentor; Vesemir.
Vesemir is the oldest and most experienced witcher at the original witcher stronghold of Kaer Morhen. Throughout The Witcher 1, Geralt receives many enigmatic visions of Vesemir that suggest he is still alive. When the story ends with Geralt confronting the mysterious man at the end of the game, it is revealed that all along he was following those visions of his beloved teacher.
Vesemir was a very important part of Geralt’s life, as he was the one who trained him in the art of witchering. Vesemir taught Geralt everything he needed to know to become a successful witcher, including how to use the magical signs. His importance in Geralt’s life is demonstrated by the emotional reunion they share at the end of the game.
