MySpace was the first social media platform to start in 2004. Created by Intermix Media (a subsidiary of News Corporation), it initially centered around music and was developed by CEO Tom Anderson and his team.
MySpace quickly became a popular online community and social network, with users creating their own personal profiles that included photos and details about themselves. As its user base grew, MySpace also added features such as instant messaging, music player functionality, and photo galleries.
At its peak, MySpace had around 100 million registered users, making it the most popular social networking site at the time. Unfortunately, MySpace was eventually overtaken by Facebook in 2008, as Facebook had a better user experience and more features. Despite this, MySpace still has around 50 million active monthly users and continues to provide an important platform for musicians and content creators.
