APA citation format generally requires that you include the author's last name, the date of publication, and the page number (or other location) of the source material. For example:

Alternatively, you may cite the author's name in the text of your paper, like this:
According to Smith (2018),…
If you're quoting directly from the source material, you'll also need to include the page number (or other location) in your citation:
Smith (2018) found that "the average person…" (p. 5).
