What is the shortest type of book? What are some of the benefits and drawbacks of writing a short book? Are there any particular genres that lend themselves to shorter works?

Short books, or novellas, are becoming increasingly popular in the publishing industry. They offer readers a quick read that can be consumed in a much shorter amount of time than a traditional novel. However, there are certain drawbacks to writing a short book, such as having to condense the story and characters into a much smaller space. Additionally, certain genres, such as fantasy, may not lend themselves to shorter works.
