An internal bookkeeper is a person or a team of people within an organization who handle the financial records of the company. They are responsible for recording, summarizing and reporting financial transactions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and inventory control. They ensure that the accounts are accurate and timely financial records are kept to help manage the business. They also prepare and analyze financial reports from the day-to-day financial activities. It is the bookkeeper’s job to make sure the financial accounts are up to date and that all income and expenses are recorded accurately. They help the company make informed financial decisions by tracking its income and expenditure, and by performing financial analysis. A bookkeeper's main duties also include entering financial transactions, such as invoices, payments, and receipts into the accounting software. They must ensure that all transactions are correct and taxes are paid on time. The bookkeeper also reconciles bank accounts, provides detailed reports on the company’s financial activites and prepares financial statements.
