Formatting an APA title page in Microsoft Word is easy. First, open a new document and save it. At the top of the page, insert a two-inch top margin, one-inch bottom margin, one-inch left margin and one-inch right margin. The font size should be set to 12 pt.
In the top center of the page, type the full title of your paper. All formatting should be centered and double-spaced. Below the title, type your full name, followed by the name of your academic institution. The title and the name of the author should each be written on a separate line using the same font size and type.
On the page number area, insert the phrase “Running head:” before the title of your paper and leave one space between them. Type the phrase in all capital letters and center it.
On the right upper corner of the page, insert a page number with the designation “Running head:” and the title of the paper. Then, include the page number without the “Running head:" phrase.
Finally, to ensure that all APA formatting requirements are met, use the Word APA Style tab which is found on the Home tab. Once activated, all other in-text and reference list formatting requirements will be done automatically.
