My preference is Prismacolor Premier pencils. I’ve found they provide superior performance and results due to their rich, creamy texture and ultra-smooth gliding quality. With Prismacolor pencils, I’m also able to achieve an amazing range of vibrant colors.
The core of Prismacolor Premier pencils is made of superior quality, lightfast pigments which lend them greater covering capacity and excellent fading resistance. The soft, thick 3.8 mm leads provide better lay down and less frequent sharpenings. Furthermore, the pencils are resistant to breakage and pressure.
Faber Castell Polychromos are made with very high-quality pigments and lightfastness in mind, however, I find the leads to be quite hard and the colors less vivid in comparison to the Prismacolor pencils. They are a great pencil for those who draw harder, darker lines, however Prismacolor offers a smoother, velvety laydown for smoother blending and color gradation.
Overall, I greatly prefer Prismacolor Premier pencils for their excellent blending, vivid colors, and smooth laydown. Whether you’re an experienced artist or a beginner, I highly recommend them!
