The relative position of an object is the position of the object compared to another object or fixed point of reference. Basically, relative position describes the relationship between two points or objects in space with respect to their orientation and distance. For example, if you are standing next to a building, the building is in a relative position to you; the building is in front of you, to your right, and at a certain distance. Similarly, two objects in motion may have a relative position in terms of their velocity, direction and distance away from one another.
