The Book of Psalms is divided into 150 chapters, each consisting of one or more psalms. The chapters were originally divided into five books: Book I (Psalms 1–41), Book II (Psalms 42-72), Book III (Psalms 73-89), Book IV (Psalms 90-106), and Book V (Psalms 107-150). This division was made for liturgical, rather than literary, purposes.
The chapters are further divided into verses. The Hebrew Bible or Old Testament generally has a different numbering system for chapters and verses than the books in the Christian Bible or New Testament.
The Book of Psalms is an important part of the Bible, often called the "Psalter", and is one of the most loved and most read books in the Bible. It is filled with prayers to God, songs of praise, and words of comfort. It’s a great source of comfort and inspiration to readers of all faiths.
