I’ve been a huge fan of books since a very young age, so this is definitely a topic that is close to my heart. I've collected some of my favorite book titles and why I love them:
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak- It is deliberately misleading, as the book is actually about the power of words. The title conveys a sense of mystery and drama.
The Time-Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger- This title is so cleverly written because it conveys the love story between time traveling, yet it also calls to mind the idea of time and the mystery behind it.
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee- Again, this title is intentionally vague because it doesn’t give away anything about the plot. It is, however, evocative of the moral struggle of racism that the story deals with.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen-Originally titled “First Impressions”, this title was changed to be more descriptive of the novel. It encompasses many aspects of the novel and is a great example of a title that says it all in only two words.
Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling- This title draws several elements from the story into its title. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone references the use of magic in the book, the fantasy world, and the search for the Philosopher’s Stone.
These are just a few of my favorite book titles, but there are countless more I could list. What are some of your favorites?
