Paddington Bear is an iconic character from children’s literature and was originally created by British author Michael Bond in 1958.
Paddington Bear is said to have originally come from the eponymous station in London, England. According to Bond, Paddington was sent by his Aunt Lucy from the fictional "Darkest Peru" to live with the Brown family in London, who found him at the station with a tag around his neck which read "Please look after this bear. Thank you."
Paddington Bear has since gone on to become an international icon of British culture, and is celebrated through books, television series, and even a movie adaptation! He has been released in a variety of stuffed bear forms, and his image has been captured on all sorts of items, from luggage tags to children’s clothing.
Whether you’ve just heard of him or he’s been a part of your life since childhood, Paddington Bear is a beloved figure from children’s literature that will likely remain with us for generations to come.
