Which Non-Sequel Movie Should be Revived?

What non-sequel movies do you think deserve a sequel? What elements of the movie would you like to see explored further? What characters would you like to see return?

I recently watched the movie "The Farewell" and I thought it was such a great movie that I would love to see a sequel. I would like to see how the characters have changed since the end of the movie, and I would love to see how their relationships evolve over time. I would also like to see how the characters deal with the cultural differences between China and America.

There are many non-sequel movies out there that I think would be great fodder for a sequel. Here are three examples that come to mind:

Get Out (2017): Get Out is a horror-comedy film directed by Jordan Peele, who is best known for Us (2019) and Keegan-Michael Key's comedy sketch show, Key and Peele (2012-2015). It follows a young African-American's experience of intertwining horror and comedy in a modern-day horror film. Despite its immense success and critical acclaim, it has yet to see a sequel. I would love to see a sequel to explore the further implications of the themes touched on in the movie, such as racism and classism.
The Departed (2006): Another classic that has received much critical praise, The Departed follows a young police officer as he attempts to take down a notorious Irish-American crime boss. This is an iconic Martin Scorsese movie, and it certainly has some legs that a sequel could explore. Perhaps a story could follow the police officer's continuing battle of wits against the crime boss, or perhaps a story that takes an even deeper dive into the culture and attitudes of Irish-American criminals.
Spotlight (2015): Spotlight is a drama film directed by Tom McCarthy and starring Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, and Mark Ruffalo. The movie is about the Boston Globe's team of investigative journalists who uncovered the truth about the Catholic Church's sex abuse scandal. This is a heavy film that depicts the power of journalism, and a sequel could possibly delve even deeper into the issues of power and corruption. Perhaps the journalists could continue their investigation, uncovering more information that had previously been overlooked. This would make for an emotionally charged story where truth prevails in the face of corruption.

These are just three examples of non-sequel movies that I think, personally, would be great to get a sequel. Regardless, the potential of a sequel is all in the imaginations of the creators.

There are many great movies out there that have left us wanting more, but one movie that definitely deserves a sequel would have to be "District 9". This sci-fi movie directed by Neill Blomkamp, follows an extraterrestrial race that landed on earth and are now living in slum-like conditions in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The movie was critically acclaimed for its unique storyline and impressive visuals. The fact that the movie was so successful even though it had a relatively small budget, only makes it all the more a great candidate for a follow-up installment.

The first movie ends with an ambiguous ending, leaving the viewers with many unanswered questions. This makes a sequel almost necessary as it can provide more context and closure to the story. Fans of the movie will be excited to see what happens to the protagonist Wikus van de Merwe, and how the aliens and humans deal with their co-existence.

Furthermore, with the current advancements in technology and CGI, a sequel to "District 9" has the potential to be even more visually stunning than the first movie. It can also explore the themes of discrimination and xenophobia in more depth.

Overall, "District 9" is a movie that undoubtedly deserves a sequel. The unique storyline combined with impressive visuals and cliffhanger ending, leaves the viewers wanting more. It has already proven to be successful despite its low budget, which means that a sequel would be highly anticipated by both critics and audiences alike.
