Unfortunately, National Treasure 3 has not yet been officially confirmed. While National Treasure fans have been eagerly awaiting a sequel since the release of National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets in 2007, there’s been no word from Disney or its cast and crew on the possibility of a third movie.
That said, there have been a few indications that National Treasure 3 may be in the works. In 2016, star Nicolas Cage told JOE.IE that he was open to doing a third movie, “If we can get the script together, it would be great to do another. I’m certainly game.”
Additionally, director Jon Turteltaub and actor Justin Bartha, who played the character Riley Poole in the first two movies, both expressed interest in returning for a third film.
Given the success of the first two National Treasure movies – both of which grossed over $350 million worldwide – and the continued enthusiasm of its fans, one can hope that Disney will eventually move forward with a third movie. Unfortunately, until Disney officially confirms a third installment of the National Treasure franchise, fans can just have to remain patient and keep crossing their fingers.
