There are two types of particles in grammar: function words and content words.
Function words are words that perform grammatical functions but don't have much meaning on their own. Examples of function words include prepositions (such as "in," "on," and "under"), articles (such as "a" and "the"), and conjunctions (such as "and" and "but").
Content words are words that have meaning on their own and can be used to convey information. Examples of content words include nouns (such as "person," "place," and "thing"), verbs (such as "walk," "run," and "be"), and adjectives (such as "happy," "sad," and "tired").
