There are many different poetry competitions out there. Some are more prestigious than others. Some have better prizes. Some have more entry fees. What are the best poetry competitions?I am a big fan of poetry competitions. I think they are a great way to get your work seen by a larger audience. I also think they are a great way to challenge yourself as a poet. I am curious to know what others think the best poetry competitions are.

There are many great poetry competitions out there, but it really depends on what you’re looking for. Some things to consider might be the prize money, the prestige of the competition, or the number of entries they receive.

Here are a few examples of some well-known poetry competitions:

The Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowship: This fellowship is awarded to a US-based poet “in recognition of conspicuous achievement in the art of poetry.” The laureate receives a $35,000 prize.

The Forward Prizes for Poetry: These prizes are awarded annually to the best poem, first collection, and second collection published in the UK and Ireland. The first prize for each category is £1000 (about $1300).

The Pulitzer Prize for Poetry: This is one of the most prestigious poetry prizes in the world. It is awarded annually to “a distinguished volume of original verse by an American author.” The prize comes with a $15,000 award.
