Oscar594 I have a text box in InDesign, and when I press enter to start a new line, the text disappears. I have to click out of the text box and then click back in to see the text again. Is there a way to fix this?
earl_hudson There are a few reasons this might happen: Check your font size. If it's set to 0 (zero), your text will disappear. Check your character formatting. If you have applied a fill color or stroke color to your text, it will become invisible if the color is set to None. Are you using a text frame? If so, check the Text Frame Options. In the Inset Spacing section, make sure the Zero Weight checkbox is not selected. If you're using a paragraph style, check the settings for the style. In the Character Options section, make sure the Zero Weight checkbox is not selected. Finally, check your text wrap options. If you have a text wrap applied to your text frame, your text might be disappearing behind the object. To fix this, go to the Text Frame Options dialog box and in the Text Wrap & Options section, make sure the Invert checkbox is not selected.
Georgios295 There are a few reasons that this might happen: You may have accidentally turned on the "Overprint preview" setting, which can make text appear to disappear. To turn this off, go to View > Overprint Preview. Another possibility is that your text box may have a stroke applied to it, which is making the text appear to disappear. To check this, select the text box and go to the Swatches panel. If there is a stroke applied, it will be listed under "Applied Attributes". You can remove the stroke by clicking on the "None" swatch. Finally, it's possible that your text is simply too small to see. To check this, go to View > Show Hidden Characters. This will show you things like spaces, tabs, and returns. If you see that your text is actually there but is just very small, you can increase the font size or change the leading (space between lines) in the Character panel.
