Formatting a table of contents in Word 7 (or any version of Word) in APA style is relatively easy. To start, open your document in Word 7 and use the Heading styles found in the Home tab. For each heading you have in the body of your document, select the appropriate heading style (e.g. for the main title of the document, use Heading 1; for the subheadings, use Heading 2).
Once the headings are all set up, the next step is to create your Table of Contents. On the References tab, select the Table of Contents option, choose the “Set Up Table of Contents” option, and then select APA as the style. This will create the Table of Contents using all of the heading styles you selected, and format it in APA style.
If you want to make any changes (e.g. add page numbers, add/remove content, etc.), select the Table of Contents and then click the “Edit Table of Contents” option. From there, you can make changes as needed.
Once you’re done, you should now have a correctly formatted Table of Contents in APA style.
