There is no one definitive answer to this question. Mt. Kailash is a holy mountain for Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Bonpo followers of Tibetan Buddhism, and each tradition has its own stories and beliefs about which deity or deities reside there. Some say that the mountain is the home of the Hindu god Shiva, while others believe that it is the abode of the Buddha Demchok. There are also many who believe that a number of deities live on Mt. Kailash, including Kali, Vishnu, and Brahma.
