Kerning is the process of adjusting the spacing between individual letters in a word or phrase. InDesign has some great built-in tools for kerning your text.
To adjust the kerning between two letters, simply place your cursor between them and use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to move them closer together or further apart. You can also use the kerning controls in the character panel or character styles panel to set a specific kerning value.
If you want to adjust the kerning for an entire block of text, you can use the kerning controls in the paragraph panel or paragraph styles panel. Simply select the text you want to kern and then adjust the kerning value.
InDesign also has some great features for automatically kerning your text. You can set up kerning exceptions for certain letter pairs, or you can let InDesign automatically kern your text based on a specified kerning amount. To do this, go to the Type > Story panel and adjust the kerning settings.
