The first page of an MLA style paper must include the following:
- A cover or title page
- The paper's identifying information (including your name, instructor's name, course name and number, and the date)
- A thesis statement
- An outline of the paper's main points
The cover or title page should include the paper's title, your name, and the name of your institution. The paper's identifying information should be double-spaced and flush with the left margin. The thesis statement should be placed flush with the left margin as well. The outline of the paper's main points should be indented one half-inch from the left margin.
