In general, an APA citation consists of the author's last name, followed by the year of publication. For example, if you were citing the book The Catcher in the Rye, published in 1951, your citation would look like this:
Salinger, J. D. (1951). The catcher in the rye. Boston: Little, Brown.
If you were citing a specific chapter from the book, you would add thechapter number after the publication year, like this:
Salinger, J. D. (1951). The catcher in the rye. Boston: Little, Brown.
