How many pages or words are in a typical chapter? How do you determine the length of your chapters?
I don't think there is a "typical" chapter length, as it really depends on the story and the author's preferences. However, I generally try to keep my chapters around 20 pages or 5,000 words, give or take a few pages/words. I find that this is a good length for keeping the reader engaged without overwhelming them with too much information at once. Of course, there are always exceptions to this rule, and sometimes a chapter might be shorter or longer depending on the needs of the story.
