On December 9, 2013, the US Airways and American Airlines merger was completed, forming the world’s largest airline. Prior to the merger, US Airways was the fifth largest airline in the US, while American Airlines was the fourth. The new American Airlines is now the largest airline in the world, with nearly 6,700 flights per day to 336 destinations in 56 countries.
